4th Edition of the Master in Food Ethics and Law (60 ECTS). The Master in Food Ethics and Law (MAED for the spanish acronym) is a program of the University of Barcelona (UB).
Working in the food industry requires for professionals from scientific disciplines (such as chemistry, food technology or agricultural engineering, among others) that are able to ensure proper legal compliance of foodstuffs. Moreover, research professionals face regularly a debate on whether the technologies they develop are appropriate or ethical. Accordingly, EU institutions assess the ethical and social implications of any research project that asks for its funding.
Keeping this in mind, food professional need both scientific and multidisciplinary professional skills that ensure the success of their innovations both from a scientific, ethical and legal perspective. In this context, the Master in Food Ethics and Law (MAED) proposes specific training in Law and Ethics for professionals of the food industry at large.
The Master's faculty consists of both food industry professionals and renowned scholars. Directed by Dr. Itziar de Lecuona – Public health Professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Barcelona - and Dr. Maria Jose Plana – qualified lawyer and specialist in Food law and Governance.
The tuition fee is 2,730 €. This not includes the University of Barcelona fee of 70 € per academic year to cover access costs to the Online Campus.

The Master in Food Ethics and Law is organized by the Bioethics and Law Observatory - UNESCO Chair in Bioethics of the University of Barcelona.
The faculty of the Master in Food Ethics and Law includes both university professors and professionals from the food industry from both the private and public sector.
