The 75th  session  of  the  UN  General  Assembly  (UNGA)  opens  on  Sept  15,  2020.  Being  held  remotely  for  the  first  time,  the  meeting  will  inevitably  be  dominated  by  the COVID-19 pandemic, but other issues on the agenda that   have   resonance   for   global   health   include   the   climate  crisis,  peace,  disarmament,  and  humanitarian  assistance.  Underpinning  this  year’s  agenda  is  the  UN  theme of multilateralism, under the banner ”The future we  want,  the  United  Nations  we  need:  reaffirming  our  collective   commitment   to   multilateralism”.

Vaccination has had a tremendous impact on the health of the global population. However, history is filled with examples where concerns about the safety and necessity of  vaccination  led  to  drops  in  immunisation  coverage  and  resurgence  of  disease. In  2019,  WHO  declared  vaccine  hesitancy  as  one  of  the  top  ten  global  health  threats.

There  is  a  cost  to  being  Black  in  the  UK:  a  tax  on  the  colour  of  a  person’s  skin.  It  is  the  price  paid  for  other  people’s  perceptions  of  what  skin  colour  means  about  one’s  abilities,  behaviour,  or  worth.  Black  people  pay  in  many  ways,  including  poorer  health,  higher  rates  of  litigation against them, and slower career advancement. These  adverse  impacts  are  well  described;1–3  strategies  to  address  them  have  been  far  too  slow  in  coming.3 Black  people  also  pay  a  minority  tax—ie,  the  burden  of    additional    responsibilities    placed    on    them    by    organisations in the name of diversity.

Más de 110 firmantes del manifiesto elogian el proyecto prometedor, pero lamentan que en el proceso aún no se haya publicado “ninguna documentación” sobre su diseño.

Con 1,6 millones de alumnos escolarizados, y una incidencia de unos 175 casos activos por 100.000 habitantes en menores de edad en el momento actual, es de esperar que 2.800 alumnos inicien el curso con coronavirus en Catalunya.

Estos productos siguen siendo baratos para el bolsillo, pero costosos para el medio ambiente.

En pocos meses la pandemia se ha convertido en una crisis global pero de efectos desiguales.
