"Forgotten needs of children left behind by migration"

The Lancet

Little  evidence  is  available  about  the  impact  parental
migration has on children who are left behind. Although parents  leaving  children  in  the  care  of  their  extended
families   while   they   seek   employment—either   within   their  origin  country  or  internationally—is  common  in
low-income  and  middle-income  countries  (LMICs),  few  studies  have  investigated  the  impact  this  has  on  the
health outcomes of these children.
