Full Professor of Philosophy of Law, Moral and Politics. - Chairholder of the UNESCO Chair in Bioethics at the University of Barcelona.
- Founder of the Bioethics and Law Observatory at the University of Barcelona; director of the research center from its creation, in 1995, to 2021.
- Founder of the Master in Bioethics and Law at the University of Barcelona, and its director until 2021.
- Founder of the Consolidated Research Group “Bioethics, Law and Society” of the Government of Catalonia, and its coordinator until 2021.
- Founder of the Bioethics and Law Journal (Revista de Bioética y Derecho), and its director until 2023.
- Member of the National Commission on Forensic Uses of DNA and of the Bioethics Commission at the University of Barcelona (1995-2020).
- Past member of the Spanish Bioethics Committee and of the Bioethics Committee of Catalonia. Past member of the Board of Directors at the International Bioethics Association.
- Member of the Working Group on Ethics in Horizon 2020 of the League of European Research Universities (LERU).
- “Narcís Monturiol” Medal for its pioneer contribution in the field of bioethics and human rights to scientific and technological progress in Catalonia.
