The specialized collection of the Bioethics and Law Observatory is available at the CRAI

26.11.2014

The Bioethics and Law Observatory (OBD) of the UB has gathered a collection of publications, materials and documents throughout its 20-year activity. The collection includes classic works but also reports developed by international bioethics committees about a wide range of topics. Now, the OBD hands its collection over to the Learning and Research Resources Centre (CRAI) of the UB which has created an online specific catalogue, supported by the UNESCO Chair in Bioethics of the University of Barcelona. Those interested can consult these materials at the Library of Law where there is a specific area which can be also used by lecturers and researchers who collaborate in the exchange programme of research and teaching of the OBD.

The collection, composed by more than one thousand books and documents such as specialized articles and scientific-technical reports, includes national works but also international ones, particularly from Latin American countries. The collection started within the master’s degree in Bioethics and Law of the UB, which was set up twenty years ago and relates bioethics with international human rights.

Created in 1995, the Bioethics and Law Observatory gathers a group of interdisciplinary experts and studies the ethical, social and legal implications of new biotechnology techniques from a scientific and multidisciplinary point of view. From 2007, it is linked with the UNESCO Chair in Bioethics of the University of Barcelona, the only chair in this issue in Spain which is part of a small group of nine UNESCO chairs in Bioethics over the world.

The collection can be consulted on the online catalogue created by the CRAI.
