Requirements

Access Degree

The Master's Degree in Food Ethics and Law (MAED) of the University of Barcelona will be awarded to all those enrolled ―holding a university degree― who pass the program.

Admission and registration process

To apply for admission to the Master in Food Ethics and Law candidates must fil out the pre-enrollment form and forward it to the MAED's Secretary (alimentarioobd[@]ub.edu) together with a brief curriculum vitae. It can also be sent directly by regural mail to the Observatory of Bioethics and Law or delivered in person at its headquarters.

A selection based on the curriculum vitae will be made among the pre-enrolled, that includes acquired training and professional experience and, if necessary, candidates will be interviewed.

Registration fees:

  • Program enrollment fee: 2.730 €*

*This amount includes examination fee, academic management, the issue of certificates, special learning support services, but not a 70 euros fee for the compulsoryOnline Campus access. Enrollment fees not refundable.


Documents

Candidates must send the following documents to the Secretariat of the Master in Food Ethics and Law at least one month before the beginning of the program:

Students with Spanish degree:

  • ID copy
  • 3 passport size color photographs.
  • Certified copy of the diploma degree.
  • Pre-enrollment document.
  • Curriculum Vitae.

Students with foreign degree:


Recognition of foreign academic degrees

Students with qualifications obtained outside Spain are required present the Application access form to postgraduate studies with a foreign university degree. nce filled out, the application must be delivered to the Secretariat of the Master along with the  rest of documents required.

All documents must be official, issued by the competent authorities and diplomatically authenticated.

If any document was originally issued in a language other than Spanish or Catalan, an official translation must be provided. Documents without official translation will not be accepted.

a) Students with university degrees from a EU Country

- Certified copy of the academic degree issued by the students' home institution.
- Certified copy of academic records.

b) Students with a university degree from a Third Country

University diplomas obtained outside the European Union must be authenticated. The official accreditation of studies should be carried before the UB always prior the enrollment in the MAED.
Documents that must be sent diplomatically authenticated are:
             - Photocopy of university degree.
             - Photocopy of academic record.

Depending on whether your country is part of the Hague Convention  the necessary formalities for the authentication vary:

If your country is part of the Hague Convention:

1) Apostille of the Hague original documents (diploma and academic record) in the relevant corresponding institution in your country.
2) Make photocopies of the certified documents and bring them, along with the original, to the Spanish consulate or embassy in your country in order to verify compliance.
3) Send, along with the other documentation, such copies to the Secretariat of the Master by post mail.

If your country is not part of the Hague Convention:

The originals must be presented in the indicated order in:

1)  Certificates of study and diplomas, to the Ministry of Education of the country in which the studies were coursed.
2) The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of that country.
3) The diplomatic or consular representation of Spain in that country.
4) Make copies and bring them along with the originals to the Spanish consulate or embassy in order to verify compliance.
5) Send the copies by post to the Secretariat of the Master, along with the rest of the documents.

Documents issued by diplomatic or consular authorities of other countries in Spain must be authenticated at the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.


Official translation of documents

All foreign language documents issued by the competent authorities of the country of origin must attatch a translation into Spanish or Catalan. This translation can be made by:

  • The Language Interpretation Office of the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Palacio de Santa Cruz, Plaza de la Provincia 1 28012 Madrid. Tel. +34 91 379 97 00).
  • UNESCO's Office of the Ibero-American Cooperation Centre or any other organization recognized by Spain.
  • Any diplomatic or consular representation of Spain.
  • The diplomatic or consular representation in Spain of the country of the applicant's citizenship or, where applicable, the appropriate document.
  • Sworn translator, duly authorized or registered in Spain. The following link gives access to the updated list of sworn translators throughout Spain (Language Interpretation Office of the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs).
