Just published in the collection "bioethical issues" Research Ethics Committees as mechanisms of protection in biomedical research written by Itziar de Lecuona, PhD in Law and MA in Bioethics and Law at the University of Barcelona, Associate Professor, Department of Public Health at the  and researcher at the Bioethics and Law Observatory at the University of Barcelona.

The book enables us to understand, as a complement to the legal field, the history of ethics committees and the various initiatives, networks and guides developed on this issue by international organizations and agencies which boast a position of leadership in bioethics and focuses on developing work procedures for members of ethics committees, highlighting the international trend, now underway, which will mark the future of ethics committees and bioethics. This book analyzes Spain’s regulations regarding biomedical research ethics committees, contributing to clarifying and systemizing in a complex area for those in the legal field, researchers and members of ethics committees who must assess research projects.
